Educator in San Fernando Valley:

Karen Sullivan is an extraordinary teacher. I have had the privilege to work with her in a co-teacher capacity for 9 years in Algebra, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Pre-calculus. I have seen many examples of her talent and have long been impressed by her diligence and work ethic. I understand that Ms. Sullivan is in a position to advocate for special education and I know she will succeed. The aspect of my teaching that I feel proud of came from interactions with Ms. Sullivan, which challenged and expanded my views on different ways different students learn mathematics. To be specific, I learned to scaffold effectively so students would comprehend the materials in smaller chunks. These interactions between us helped my special education students and the rest of my students. Felix Cesar

Parents must have access to the necessary resources and support to effectively engage with the special education system. It is crucial to acknowledge the challenges they may face and work towards providing practical support to ensure that all children have equal access to quality education within the special education system.
